The Rodecker Foundation

Improving Our Community by Empowering the Individual

GOALS

2025-2030

Over the next 5 years, the foundation will continue to offer aid to the community via many forms. Housing assistance, loans, grants and (of course) the Roger Rodecker Memorial Scholarship Fountain Valley High School (established in 1992).

A larger goal of the Foundation is to acquire a parcel of land. This site would be used (in part) as a seasonal camp where youths would stay and experience nature, arts, and education while learning life skills associated with construction and stewardship. Volunteers (aka”camp consolers”) with specific knowledge of construction, trades, psychology, nature, (etc.) would be on hand to mentor the campers, who would be physically participating in the actual construction and maintenance of the camp itself – a perpetual project in itself.

It is our belief that the satisfaction, joy and pride realized from helping build something that, for years to come, you can see, feel, touch (even visit) will foster a core level of confidence, self worth and pride that can’t be taught. It has to be EXPERIENCED.

In addition to operating as youth camp, parts of the property may double as a venue, art colony, retreat and lodging to help offset the off-season operational costs

As of March, 2025, we have identified a 35 acre property near Lake Arrowhead that could accomplish all of the above goals. The property is massive, directly off a main highway, walking distance to city services and was actually operated as a lodge and health retreat 50+ years ago. We estimate the cost at about $ 3MM ($1.7 for the land, $1.3 for materials, improvements and carrying) and it is our hope to be able to get the property under contract before July, 2025

Unfortunately, none of this can happen without additional $$$ and we will need help with this by reaching into your own tool box and donating toward our shared goal. Additionally, any suggestions (ideas) for fundraising will be appreciated. I have lots of experience in construction & business, but very little in asking for $$$ help.
